During the summer of 2017, I spent 104 days working as the hostess aboard the Charlotte Queen Adventures, a tug-boat-turned-adventure-lodge, that was moored on the West Coast of Haida Gwaii.

As the hostess, my tasks were vast and varied. On a daily basis, I would clean all the guest chambers, do the laundry, serve and clean up after lunch and dinner, photograph the guest’s catch-of-the-day and foster a welcoming presence on board the Charlotte Queen. When I wasn’t working I would kayak, beach comb, and devour books by the dozen.
